If you saw my wishlist from last week, you’ll see I had two of the Pat McGrath Mothership palettes on it. The colors look beautiful, and while I had never tried anything from it, I’ve only heard heard good things about the brand.
This week, I was watching reviews on Youtube, and I saw quite a few on the smaller, six-pan palettes PMG recently released. After seeing Puffin’s Wife’s swatches, I knew I wanted to try one.
After work on Friday, I ended up at Sephora with a friend (as one does), and my store actually had the Bronze Ambition palette in stock. I swatched the shades, and they were so creamy.
After hmming and hawing over it (did I really need more eyeshadows?) for about 20 minutes, I caved and bought it.
The Palette
The Pat Mcgrath Labs MTHRSHP Sublime Bronze Ambition Eyeshadow Palette ($55.00 USD for 12 g or 0.42 oz) is one of three new limited-edition, six-pan palettes from Pat Mcgrath Labs. It features one matte and five shimmery shades. However, the darkest shade, Illicit, is more of a matte base with gold glitter, it is described as: “charcoal brown sheen.”
The Packaging
The packaging of this palette is really unique the outside is. has three panels and opens sort of like an accordian folder/book. I like how this stands out in my collection. It also is compact and sturdy, which I really appreciate in a palette.
The Swatches
First, here are finger swatches on completely bare skin.
I really like how well these show up without any sort of base. They are nice and creamy to the touch and really give a great color pay off.
Next, I primed my arm using the Smashbox 24 Hour Photo Finish Shadow Primer, and once again used my finger to swatch the colors.
The colors are even more vibrant.
