A SoCal transplant trying to figure out this whole life thing.
Welcome to my little corner of the internet for all things beauty, life, food, explorations, pop culture and other randomness — I hope you stick around.
The Start of a Dream
I can trace my desire of being a content creator back to middle school (although, we didn’t use that term back then.) It was when I first started watching Elle and Blair Fowler do their makeup from their bedrooms. I thought they were so cool, so confident, and so incredibly interesting. I was HOOKED.
But, despite what people who know me in real life tend to think, I’m actually kind of a shy person, and I was worried that I wasn’t interesting enough to create content about me and my life.
So, instead, when I was younger, I dreamt of working at a women’s fashion and lifestyle magazine, where the focus wouldn’t be solely on me. (If you’ve seen The Bold Type, think of it as some mix of what Sutton, Jane and Kat do.)
I wanted to be in the hustle and bustle, working with high-power fashion and beauty brands, creating fun, interesting and unique content, empowering women, while living in NYC.
But after taking a magazine writing class in college (and hating it), and realizing that to make it in that world I’d need to be able to live in NYC doing some sort of unpaid internship, I decided that it wasn’t my path.
A Change in Course
Instead, when I graduated from the University of Florida, I packed up my Honda Civic and drove 13 or so hours to D.C. for another dream. I wanted to change the world. (To be honest, I still do.)
There, I joined a small public interest communications firm, where we worked with non-profits (mostly in the public health sector) to promote ideas that inspire and drive social change worldwide through communications.
After being there a few years, dealing with the metro, winter (growing up in Florida, I’m not made for thing like snow) and living in a basement apartment, I realized I didn’t have to be in D.C. I could change the world in another way while working in industries I love.
California Dreamin’
After living in D.C. for more than three years, I knew I was ready for an even bigger change.
So, yet again, I packed up my things and moved. This time all the way across the country to the west coast.
Now, I live next to the Pacific Ocean in the Beach Cities of L.A., and I’ve never been happier…even during a global pandemic!
Sharing My Story
So, I guess that’s where this site and my socials come in.
As a digital marketer/creative, content and brand strategist, and of course, storyteller, I’ve spent a large chunk of my life building other people, companies and brands, but, there was always something getting in the way of me doing it myself — not having enough courage, worrying that I wasn’t interesting enough, being busy with school, work, life, etc., but after all these years of dreaming, I’m finally facing my fears and sharing my life. It’s something that’s been in the back of my mind for awhile. But now, I am finally mustering up the courage to move forward with a version of the dream I’ve had since I was a little kid.
After years of questioning and struggling to answer the age old question “Who am I?” in attempts to figure out how to define myself and therefore my potential audience — I know I’m not fully there yet, but I think I finally have an answer to at least start with.
I’m a dreamer, a creator, an explorer, a foodie, a friend, and there are few things in life that make me more excited than fluffy puppies, creating something new, a bowl of deliciously creamy ice cream, makeup, time with loved ones, a passion project, a great photograph, a good book, tv shows and an amazing story. This is going to be a place for all of these facets of me to converge. I’m sure my interests will sway, change and grow, and as that happens I hope you will join me for the journey.
So, I guess, this is my way of saying welcome, I hope you like my little corner of the internet and find what I post interesting enough to stick around! Hope you enjoy.
